There, finally! For ~kalamu!

Man, this was a good learning experience for me -- I used a bunch of different media, it was really fun.

This is beautiful beyond words. I doubt my vocabulary holds the words to express how I feel about this piece. I can say that this is truly one of the best pictures anyone has done involving Kalamu as of date. It’s more than anything I ever dreamt of, even though it’s exactly what I asked for –and that after being pretty vague too- and yet it’s… it’s fucking perfect, that’s what it is. Just, perfect.

The composition is strikingly well done. Simple, but very effective. A feast for the eyes, etcetera, etcetera. I love how the lines flow into each other to form this breathtaking scene with Kalamu on top of it, stalking under the trees, at the very tip of where her claws still can grasp at the ground beneath her. I adore the balance of light and dark here and how the gryphon is forming a “middleground” if I can call it that, joining the two so to speak. I don’t know if I’m making sense here. But it’s all so well balanced, nothing’s in the wrong spot. I don’t know if you plan these things very carefully or if they just come naturally, but it looks awesome none the less

Kalamu came out great as well. You did her exactly as sleek and predatory as I’ve always imagined, like she’s some feathered creature from the past. Something somewhere between reptile and bird. I love how sinewy you drew her legs, but still managed to convey this raw strength. Like the skinny legs and muscled thighs of an ostrich or a kangaroo. I also like how you managed to make the purple/pink parts look natural and un-girly. I don’t know, purple isn’t a girly colour in itself, but somehow I’ve come to associate it with that, and Kal is not a very girly characters so, yeah

I also have to compliment your background drawing abilities. I just realised that the whole scene and the style it’s drawn in brings me right back to when I was a little child and enjoyed all those a-bit-too-violent fairytales with their wonderful and creepy ink illustrations. The way the roots come together and curl around each other, the texture of the rock, the shading. Everything about it reminds me of Asbjørnsen and Moe folk tales

Beatiful colouring, beautiful composition, beautiful capture of atmosphere and character. There truly isn’t anything I can put my finger on in this. It’s absolutely perfect. Thank you so so much, you have no idea how you made my day
